Theme Overview

In 2026, ArtDash invites young artists to discover the magic hidden in everyday life through the theme “Everyday Wonders.” This theme celebrates the beauty and fascination found in ordinary moments, objects, and experiences around us.

Artists are encouraged to create digital works that go beyond simply depicting everyday scenes, transforming the familiar into extraordinary visual stories that capture imagination and wonder.

If you need inspiration, the prompts below are provided to help spark ideas. Use them as a starting point to reflect on your own experiences, favorite moments, or unique interpretations of the world around you, and let your creativity guide the final artwork.

Artistic Exploration Guide

STEP 1: Noticing the Extraordinary in the Ordinary

Everyday wonder begins with observation. Look closely at your surroundings — your home, your neighborhood, your routines, or fleeting moments that usually pass unnoticed.

It might be sunlight through a window, a shared laugh, a familiar object, or a moment that feels small but special.

Guiding Questions:

  • What ordinary moments make you feel curious, calm, happy, or thoughtful?

  • Is there something you see every day that could become magical through art?

Suggestions:

  • Focus on a simple daily scene and reimagine it with emotion or atmosphere.

  • Zoom in on a small detail and turn it into the center of your artwork.

STEP 2: Telling a Story Through Mood and Feeling

Your artwork doesn’t need to explain everything. Sometimes the feeling matters more than the story itself. Use color, light, composition, and style to express how the moment feels to you.

Guiding Questions:

  • What emotion do you want the viewer to feel when they look at your piece?

  • How can color, lighting, or perspective help express that feeling?

Suggestions:

  • Use warm or cool colors to suggest mood or time.

  • Experiment with lighting, shadows, or unusual viewpoints.

STEP 3: People, Objects, or Places — Your Choice

You may choose to include people, animals, objects, places, or none of them at all. Everyday wonder can exist in a busy moment or a quiet space.

There are no requirements — only possibilities.

Guiding Questions:

  • Does including a person, animal, or object help express your idea?

  • Would your artwork be stronger by focusing on a place or atmosphere instead?

Suggestions:

  • Show a moment of interaction, observation, or stillness.

  • Let familiar spaces or objects become symbols of something larger.

STEP 4: Personal Meaning and Imagination

Everyday wonder is deeply personal. Your artwork can reflect your own experiences, thoughts, dreams, or imagination — even if others see the same world differently.

Guiding Questions:

  • Why does this moment matter to you?

  • How can your artwork show your unique way of seeing the world?

Suggestions:

  • Combine realism with imagination if you like.

  • Let your personality and creativity guide your choices.

Final Note: Making the Viewer ‘Taste’ Your Art

As you develop your piece, remember that your goal is to evoke more than just the visual beauty of food. Aim to create a multisensory experience that lets viewers almost taste and feel the dish. By paying attention to detail, texture, and mood, your artwork can transform the viewer’s experience into one that tantalizes all the senses.
